新連載「北欧に学ぶ！イノベーションレポート」が始まります！
Sony Acceleration Platformは、北欧に位置するスウェーデンのルンドという街にも拠点があり、ヨーロッパを中心に世界の事業開発に挑戦するあらゆる企業の皆様を支援しています。
世界の中でも北欧は、イノベーション先進地域です。日本で事業開発に取り組んでいる方々でも驚かれたり新鮮に感じられたりするような考え方やアプローチの方法でイノベーションに取り組まれています。
そこで、本サイトに訪れてくださる皆様にも気軽に北欧のイノベーション文化に触れていただけるような機会をお届けしたいと思い、「北欧に学ぶ！イノベーションレポート」と題してさまざまなトピックを連載する運びとなりました。
これから始まる連載に先駆けて、本記事では、数字から見る北欧の強みとSony Acceleration Platformのヨーロッパ拠点のご紹介をします。
北欧はどんな地域？
北欧と聞いて、皆さんは何を思い浮かべますか？
IKEA、マリメッコ、H&M、レゴ、Spotify・・・昨今続く北欧ブームもあり、いまや北欧文化は、日本人の生活にも馴染みのあるものになりました。
下の図にもある通り、実は北欧は、イノベーション、サステナビリティ、競争力、起業家精神など、世界のあらゆる指標において常に上位にランクインし、1人当たりのユニコーン企業数の世界一を誇るイノベーション先進地域です。
これらの結果の背景には、歴史的なものや文化、国単体での国民の生活環境の向上などの社会インフラを整えているだけでなく、北欧地域をあげたイノベーションに集中できる環境づくりなどがあり、北欧にはイノベーション創出が「当たり前」になるための土壌が揃っています。
Sony Acceleration Platformのヨーロッパ拠点からご挨拶
Sony Acceleration Platformのヨーロッパ拠点（Sony Acceleration Platform Europe）は、南スウェーデンのルンドという都市にあります。
ルンドは、スウェーデン第3の都市マルメの北西に位置する古都で、ルンド大聖堂やルンド大学があり、大学職員と学生が人口の4割を占めるため大学都市ともいわれています。また、エリクソンなどのハイテク産業や電気通信産業の企業が多く、かつてはソニーの携帯電話事業のエンジニアも多く在籍していた場所でもあり、ソニーにとっては身近な都市です。また、隣国であるデンマークの首都コペンハーゲンからも近く、電車で片道45分往という短時間で往来できます。
ルンドを含めこの南スウェーデンでは、アーリーステージのスタートアップを支援する団体や施設が多く存在し、コミュニティが形成されています。コミュニティは、ルンド大学、スタートアップ支援団体、成功したスタートアップのCEO、周辺企業関係者で構成されており、スタートアップにとって役に立つ情報や経験者によるアドバイスなど、必要なサポートを得られる環境が整っています。Sony Acceleration Platform Europeもこのコミュニティの中に入っており、お互いに協力し合う体制を構築し、さらなるユニコーン企業を発掘する活動を積極的に行っています。
